Join Temple Beth Ami for an in-depth and timely panel discussion exploring the current moment in Israel through the lens of leading experts and analysts. Moderated by Rabbi Baht Yameem Weiss, this conversation brings together Gabby Deutch, Senior National Correspondent at Jewish Insider; Michael Sharnoff, Associate Professor at the National Defense University; and Madeleine Cereghino, Director of Government Relations at New Jewish Narrative. Together, they will offer context, clarity, and thoughtful perspectives on unfolding events and their broader implications.

Panelist Bios:

Madeleine Cereghino
 is the Director of Government Relations at New Jewish Narrative (NJN), where she spearheads the organization’s advocacy efforts with Congress and the Administration. With over a decade of experience in government affairs, she is dedicated to advancing pro-diplomacy policies in the Israeli-Palestinian context.

Before the formation of NJN, Madeleine served as the Director of Government Relations at Americans for Peace Now (APN), where she led legislative engagement and advocacy strategies. Prior to that, she spent seven years at J Street, educating lawmakers on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and honing her expertise in US foreign policy.

Michael Sharnoff is an Associate Professor at the National Defense University’s Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies. In this role, he organizes, moderates, and delivers lectures and seminars on topics related to the politics and security of the Middle East. He has taught at Georgetown University, and prior to joining NESA, he served as Associate Professor of Middle East Studies and Director of Regional Studies at the Daniel Morgan Graduate School of National Security. While at DMGS, Dr. Sharnoff taught graduate courses on the Arab-Israeli conflict and the history and politics of the modern Middle East. He received a PhD in Middle East Studies from King’s College, London and is the author of Nasser’s Peace: Egypt’s Response to the 1967 War with Israel (Routledge, 2017).

Gabby Deutch is the Senior National Correspondent at Jewish Insider, where she covers politics, foreign policy, and a diverse array of stories across the Jewish world. Gabby previously worked on The Atlantic's global affairs team and at NewsGuard, a media startup that uses reporting and technology to combat online misinformation. She graduated from Yale and lives in Washington, DC.
